Course Info

To keep things fun and fresh, we are instituting a rotating course. As has been done with other trail race courses we will be rotating the direction of travel each year:

  • Even years: Clockwise
  • Odd years: Counterclockwise

We offer three different race distances: 5K, 10K, and 20K

Trails will be well marked with course markings predominately on the right-hand side of the trails.

5K: blue flagging
10K: green flagging
20K: pink flagging

Please refer to the course descriptions below for descriptions of each course, with maps.

5K Course

The 5K course gains about 500 ft. of elevation and gets participants up to some nice views and challenging trails. See the map below. All abilities are welcome!

10K Course

The 10K course takes a fun tour around the Flying V Trails with over 1,000 feet of climbing. Get a nice mix of single-track, two-track, and challenging climbs and fun downhills. This course has a little bit of everything. Again, looking to cover some miles but not wanting to run? All abilities are welcome!

20K Course

If you want to push yourself and take a tour of the newest trails we have to offer, then the 20K is for you! This course will hit the high point and newest trail at the Flying V called Lasso where you will be rewarded with some great views of the valley. This challenging course will also reward you with approximately 2,000 feet of climbing!

Aid Station

Aid

There will be one aid station located at the junction of Never Sweat, Breakneck, and Hog Pen. The 10K will pass the aid station once at about mile 3.5. The 20K participants will pass the aid station twice at mile 5.3 and again at mile 10.

Aid station items will include water and tailwind and a selection of snacks including fruit, salty items, and something sweet!

If you have any special needs dietary wise or nutrition wise you will want to bring it yourself. The Cave Man is also a cupless race. So bring your own cup or hydration container. And please, if you pack it in, pack it out!
